Do The Work
I wanted to share one more endorsement that means a lot to me:
“I have been a close observer of Luke Searle’s decisions and governing philosophy for a number of years. Luke has youthful energy, coupled with the maturity of many years of public service already under his belt. He is the ideal candidate to represent us in the legislature.”
I also want to share something I shared in my last email to county delegates in my county council race 4 years ago.
Age and experience both matter.
One of the funniest lines in politics is still Ronald Reagan’s response in his debate with Walter Mondale: “I will not take advantage of my opponent’s youth and inexperience for political purposes.”
I’ve always loved that line. I’m 30 now, and I don’t really view myself as “young” in the same way as I used to. There’s still more life to experience, and I think that matters. It keeps me grounded. It reminds me I don’t know everything, and that I need to listen.
But the reality is, in this race, I have the most experience and I plan to use that.
Local elected officials and the communities they represent have been pushed aside for far too long in the name of what the legislature wants. Preemption has replaced partnership, and it needs to go the other way. The state should be working with communities, not over them.
These are the perspectives I will bring:
Local experience working on real issues across the Wasatch Back
A record of being on the ballot and earning the trust of voters
The perspective of a young parent in a state where the cost of living is rising fast
A willingness to listen, learn, and work with others to get things done
I am not a millionaire or someone who owns a bunch of properties. I’m homegrown and understand what it’s like to live and work here, and I promise that I will work as hard as I know how to give us strong representation in the state legislature. This race is too important, both in November and for our future, to be driven by people chasing headlines or pushing narratives that don’t reflect reality. We need someone focused on the real issues facing the Wasatch Back and ready to do the work on day one.
Thank you again,
Luke Searle
