Education: Our State's Future

In my role at Wasatch CAPS, I work with high school students every day on preparing for the real world. That looks like learning how to write a professional email, show up on time, communicate clearly, and follow through on real projects with real expectations. Hopefully I’ve done an okay job modeling that with this campaign. I’ve seen how valuable these kinds of opportunities are, and I support expanding these in the state and introducing them where they can be harder to establish like rural and non-traditional settings.

“Luke’s leadership skills were evident from his high school days. Watching Luke progress from one of my business students to a business teacher and leader in our community says everything about who he is. He’s invested in Wasatch and in helping students build real-world skills that prepare them for the future. He understands both education and workforce needs, and that’s the kind of leadership I believe he’ll bring to the legislature.”

I’m grateful for the education I received here and know that public schools can provide many successful education experience. At the same time, they don’t always meet every individual student’s needs. That’s why I believe giving families more choice and options matters. We should support pathways both inside and outside the traditional system, while making sure there is strong accountability for how those resources are used. Giving parents and students the opportunities to succeed is very important to me. Investing in public education with resources directly for students is also crucial.

I would love to hear your thoughts on where things are going well with education in Utah and where improvements are needed. Please come to an event this week or text and I will be sure to get your questions answered.

If this is something you believe in too, I’d appreciate your support and your vote at convention.

All the best,

Luke Searle
